Zathura: A Space Adventure

Zathura (2005) is the sister movie to Jumanji, which involves a couple of siblings playing a cosmically powerful game that re-enacts the events on the board in their actual lives. The movie takes the two brothers (played by Josh Hutcherson and Jonah Bobo) deep into space where they put aside their sibling rivalry to work together.

The special effects hold up nicely even nine years later in the light year advancement of today’s CGI, but the strength of the movie is unpredictable twists and turns presented by the game.
