Dora The Explorer Live!
Search For The City Of Lost Toys

11 July 2012 | Kids Live Show Review

Dora The Explorer Live! Search For The City Of Lost Toys

Dora The Explorer Live! Search For The City Of Lost Toys is a great new live children's show touring Australia...

This children's extravaganza is a great outing for all Dora fans - from toddlers to older children.

Dora The Explorer Live! Search For The City Of Lost Toys takes us along on Dora's latest adventure, searching to find her lost teddy bear.

All of Dora's friends are back to accompany her on her exciting new journey. The reveal of each character at the start, from Boots right up to the star of the show, Dora, results in excited screams from the toddlers and little kid audience members that is reminiscent of the Beatles! Even Diego and Baby Jaguar put in an appearance during the show, much to the delight of all.

The Dora Live Show follows the same format as Dora's animated adventures, and the colourful sets cleverly translate this Dora animated story to the live stage without missing a beat.

The kids are presented with a problem, and then shown a plan to follow to resolve it - the Map! "Pyramid - Jungle - City of Lost Toys! Say it with me!". A suspended map shows the way, lighting up the familiar step-by-step plan that the kids know how to follow.

Audience interaction can be really important with kids shows, and Dora's Live Show certainly achieves this - engaging songs have the kids jumping and dancing, bubbles emerge from the sides of the stage and clever lighting effects (such as stars projected all over the theatre walls) captivate all - from the babies right up to the adults. Everyone enthusiastically takes part in the pantomime-like audience participation ("She's behind you!" "Swiper, no swiping!" "Stomp your feet!").

Organisers are mindful that they are hosting young children for this production, so there is a useful intermission half-way through for all those little kid needs - a snack, toilet or nappy-changing opportunity - no doubt much appreciated by many of the parents!

Dora The Explorer Live! Search For The City Of Lost Toys truly is a Family feel-good event, and the fact that most of the kids remain engrossed and involved for the whole of the show is a great bonus for parents - there can often there can be a high toddler drop-out rate from boredom at children's shows!

The best part of all, it's wonderful to watch your child's reaction to seeing their favourite hero - larger than life, right in front of their very eyes! Their amazed and delighted reactions alone are a real treat to behold for mums, dads, grandparents and carers - and if a theatre full of kids reactions to the show is anything to go by, Dora's Search For The City Of Lost Toys is destined to be a Australia-wide family show hit.

Dora The Explorer Live! Search For The City Of Lost Toys tours Australia until 23 July 2012 - Check the show listings here to see when Dora is visiting your Australian city.

What does it mean to be a single mum?Of course, the

are the most important thing in a single mum's life. Kids are the focus and always have been. But along with the children, there are other matters that can confuse a single mum's life.

plays a big part of a single mother's life, mainly because this is where a large percentage of single mums get their finances from. Centrelink are the source from where the

single mother pension

, or as it is otherwise known, the single parent payment comes from. The single mother pension is a subsistence amount, but just the same, it is money to live on, and so it is important, no matter if it is called single parent payment, single mother pension or whatever Centrelink welfare classes it at the time

Often, single mums come out of a

or defacto relationship only to find that their troubles have just begun, and find that their first step leads them towards Family Law - it's time to engage a lawyer.
There are more than just Centrelink finance problems to worry about, as mentioned before, but also

child custody

issues. Child custody is something that hits right at the heart of

single mums

. If a single mother's ex husband or ex partner has been a domestic violence perpetrator, the mum may be greatly worried about child custody. They worry that their kids won't be safe with their spouse, who has already proven to be abusive because they caused

domestic violence

, which resulted in a divorce or separation.

Even so,

Family Court

will often still order a form of child custody named

Shared Parenting

. Shared Parenting is a form of child custody division of time or parental responsibility between the parents. Mother's often look for a good divorce lawyer to try to avoid share parenting with an abusive ex-spouse after divorce, however in many cases Shared Parenting is still the outcome after the divorce, no matter how good the divorce lawyers have been. They will often settle for visitation at a contact centre or access centre where fathers or mothers are supervised during child custody access.
