The Top 5 Places For A Perfect Single Parent Family Holiday
5 November 2012 | Single Mum Blog | Melissa Davis
Being a single parent doesn’t mean that we have to miss out on holidays…
…and it certainly doesn’t mean that they have to be a chore
Being a single parent doesn’t mean that we have to miss out on holidays, and it certainly doesn’t mean that they have to be a chore. If you choose the right destination you can have a perfect holiday that not only the kids will love – but you will too.
Stuck for ideas of where to go? Here are five places for a perfect holiday with the kids.
1. Daydream Island, Queensland
There’s no need to head overseas for the perfect family holiday when you have a place like Daydream Island right here on our doorstep. This is easily one of Australia’s best destinations for kids as there is so much to do all included in the cost of your accommodation.
There is a miniature golf course, several swimming pools, outdoor movie cinema and even a living reef right in the heart of the island where kids and adults can feed sharks, stingrays and more.
2. Disney Resorts
What child doesn’t dream about a trip to Disneyland? The great thing about Disney hotels are that they cater for both children and adults. Most of them offer in-room babysitting services for children under the age of four and a whole range of onsite children’s activities – so you can leave them to have fun while you spend some time relaxing.
There are Disney resorts around the world, so you can choose from Japan, USA, France and Hong Kong. Check what kids facilities they offer before booking.
3. Head off on a cruise
Cruising might seem like an expensive option, but when you consider how much is included in the price it works out to be very cost-efficient. Many cruise companies are offering an increasing array of options for single parents, including personal paging systems, kids programs, video arcades, kids’ cinemas and even wet ‘n’ wild features on some cruises.
Cruises can be as long or short as you like and you don’t need to head too far away either. You could simply cruise around Australia’s east coast for example, or head over to Fiji.
4. Gold Coast, Queensland
Queensland’s Gold Coast is a must-visit destination for all families. There are endless options for things to do no matter what age your children are. If your children are old enough, the theme parks such as Dreamworld, Wet ‘n’ Wild and Movie World will go down a treat, whereas younger kids will love visiting the residents at Sea World. Sea World even has its own on-site resort that caters specifically for kids – so they’ll never run out of things to do.
And of course there are the stunning Gold Coast beaches, which are a completely free and always a memorable day out.
5. Phuket, Thailand
Phuket is always a great place to take the kids – you have beautiful beaches, plenty of watersports and activities, cultural activities, family friendly resorts and much more. There are hundreds of hotels on Phuket, so finding one that has a great kids club and babysitting facilities won’t be hard.
During the days there are plenty of activities in Phuket that will keep both you and your children amused, including elephant rides, miniature golf at Dino Park, the fun-filled Splash Jungle Water Park and the always popular Phuket Aquarium.
