Child Support Agency – Child Support collection and enforcement methods

Where there is little or no evidence of a parent’s commitment to meeting their child support responsibilities or where there is evidence of fraud, the Child Support Agency may be able to access one or more of the following methods to collect child support payments owed:

  • Employer deductions of arrears
  • Enforcing tax return lodgement
  • Intercepting tax refunds
  • Intensive debt collection
  • Issuing overseas travel bans
  • Litigation
  • Optical surveillance
  • Prosecution
  • Minimising income to increase or decrease child support payments
  • Economic Security Strategy Payments
