In addition to the Federal Government Centrelink stimulus COVID-19 welfare payments and benefits, some of the State Governments are offering their own additional new one-off payments, grants and financial support.

We have searched each state government website, and listed those that we can find below.

Please note that those listed on this page are only the new COVID-19 payments, and that normal state financial support may also be available to you. You can find these by using the official state government website links at the end of each state section.

New South Wales

Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) $50 vouchers

If you’re having difficulty paying your household energy bill because of a short-term financial crisis or emergency, such as unexpected medical bills, or reduced income due to COVID-19, you could be eligible for Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) $50 vouchers.

Victoria

DHHS COVID-19 Rent Relief Grant

The Victorian Government has established an $80 million rental assistance fund to provide rent relief payments of up to $2000 to Victorians experiencing rental hardship due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

COVID Stimulus – Free training via Working For Victoria

The Victorian Government has provided $500 million to the Working for Victoria initiative to help the community and contribute to Victoria’s ability to respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Queensland

$200 Energy Rebate

Automatically applied $200 rebate for all Queensland households (including the $50 Asset Ownership Dividend already announced) to offset the cost of water and electricity bills.

Australian Capital Territory (ACT)

Household utilities and concessions

Households already receiving the Utilities Concession will receive an additional $200 rebate through their electricity bill.

This includes: Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card holders and Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card holders.

This will be automatically applied to the next electricity bill in June or July 2020.

Residential tenancy relief

Your rent MAY be reduced if your landlord takes part in the Residential tenancy relief

The government will provide a land tax and rates rebate to landlords of residential properties who reduce rents by at least 25 per cent for tenants impacted by COVID-19.

This will provide rental relief to impacted tenants of up to $200 per week.

Hardship rates deferral arrangements

The ACT Revenue Office will implement a new process for rates deferrals for owner occupiers experiencing hardship because of COVID-19. No interest will apply to the deferred amount.

South Australia

The Cost of Living Concession

The Cost of Living Concession helps those on low or fixed incomes with their cost of living expenses, whether that be electricity, water, gas or medical bills.

Households that receive the Centrelink JobSeeker Payment will get a once-off boost of $500 as part of the 2020/21 Cost of Living Concession. In addition, payments will be brought forward for those households.

This measure is to assist people who are unemployed or lose their jobs as a result of COVID-19.

If you do not receive the Centrelink JobSeeker payment, your concession remains unchanged.

Eligibility is based on your living arrangements on 1 July. You can apply any time but applications must be submitted by 31 October to receive the concession for that financial year.

Northern Territory

No specific COVID-19 grants or payments

Apart from a program to assist non-welfare individuals who have lost their job due to Coronavirus to sign up for welfare (The Worker and Wellbeing Fund), some capping of general fees, we were unable to locate any COVID-19 stimulus or relief payments for low income individuals/ households.

Tasmania

No specific COVID-19 grants or payments

Apart from some capping of general fees, refund of school levies and assistance for welfare dependants required to formally self isolate, we were unable to locate any COVID-19 stimulus or relief payments for low income individuals/ households.

Western Australia
